Bobby Cool was born, Robert Talton Cool, in Atlanta, Georgia on March 26, 1986. He grew up listening to artists like James Taylor, Elton John, and Billy Joel, all of whom have greatly influenced his music. For most of his childhood, Bobby listened to the rock, folk, and pop that his parents would play around the house, and it wasn't until high school that he first started listening to country music. "A friend of mine grew up listening to country, but we would make fun of him, and talk about how all he listening to was that his truck broke down, his baby left me, and his dog got runned over," Cool laughs. "But then, he played us some stuff, and I was like okay, maybe it's not too bad. Then I found that I couldn't get those songs out of my head. And then I just got hooked. It all happened very fast," Cool jokes. Cool is a country traditionalist through and through, but has the ability to incorporate various musical genres into his music and still keep it country. "I heard someone say once, that country was all in singer," Cool explains. "I feel like the music that is within me is county music and that no matter how the music is stretched, one way or the other, it will still be country."
Cool lives in Nashville, Tennessee and has recently finished recording three songs that will be pitched to garner interests from artists and labels. When asked about how Nashville has been so far, Cool said that, "I've been very fortunate to have met and worked with the people that I have in such a short period of time. I've been here a little over a year now, and have a seven song demo of songs that I am very proud of, have had some of the best musicians in the world play on it...make me sound a lot better than I am," he says smiling, "and then to have the fan response that i've had thus far...it's just been incredible."
Along with garnering interest from labels and artists, Cool has won a number of songwriting competitions and has also won a battle of the bands in Smyrna, Tennessee. Success, which has further fueled him to continue to pursue a career in music. "I have had nothing but encouragement since moving to Nashville," Cool says, "I realize that it probably won't always be that way, but for now it has been great to have the love and support from the people here in Nashville, and especially the fan base that we're growing. The fans have been awesome!"
Knowing the odds are stacked against him, when asked how long he would pursue a career in music, Cool responded, "I don't really know what God has in store for me with music. All I know is that I'm having a blast playing music and as long as people seem to be having a blast listening, we'll keep at this thing as long as it takes." While Cool has not quite broken through yet, the pieces are in places. And with one or two pieces, here or there, the picture could start to come together quickly.
