Those pink penalty flags that NFL referees were using this weekend in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month are history.
After numerous complaints that the flags were hard to differentiate from parts of the players' uniforms -- which are also pink for the next couple of weeks -- the league has announced that it is going back to regular yellow flags. But other pink equipment -- including sideline hats, the padding around the goalposts and even the coin for the coin flip -- will remain pink through week seven's games.
The pink flags were first used in one game last season when the New York Jets visited the Dolphins in Miami.
