
The satirical news site TheOnion.com has apologized for a distasteful Oscar night Tweet about 9-year-old nominee QUVENZHANE WALLIS. They said, quote, "Everyone else seems afraid to say it, but that Quvenzhane Wallis is kind of a [C-word], right?" The Onion apologized personally to Quvenzhane, calling the Tweet crude, offensive, senseless and humorless. They also said those responsible for it will be disciplined.

Some names that were left off the Oscars' "In Memoriam" segment included Andy Griffith, Phyllis Diller, Larry Hagman, Sherman Hemsley and Conrad Bain. But it can be argued that they're all primarily TV people. And last year's Emmys did honor Andy, Phyllis and Sherman. Larry and Conrad died AFTER the broadcast, so it's pretty much a lock that both of them will make this year's Emmy "In Memoriam" rundown.

CHRISTINA APPLEGATE got married recently in a private ceremony, according to her rep. The lucky guy is MARTYN LENOBLE, one of the founding members of the band PORNO FOR PYROS. They've been together four years, and have a 2-year-old daughter.
