JASON’S PICK

Brianna Priddy, Applebee's Waitress, Serves Customer Using Her Stolen Driver's License

When a customer at an Applebee's in Lakewood, Co., allegedly tried to use a stolen driver's license to get a drink, she got served -- but not in the way she wanted.

Turns out the driver's license belonged to the waitress taking the order.

Brianna Priddy's wallet was stolen on Feb. 13 during a night out with friends. Since then, someone had been using her identity to write hundreds of dollars in bad checks, according to the Associated Press.

Priddy got payback of sorts on Feb. 25 when a woman came in with a group, ordered a drink and handed her the stolen ID.

"But I didn't say anything," she told KUSA-TV. "I handed it back to her and said 'Sure, I'll be right back with your margarita.' [I] went straight to the phone, called the cops."

The officers came to the scene quickly and arrested the 26-year-old suspect, the Metro reported.

The woman's name has not been released because the case is still under investigation, but she faces identity theft and criminal impersonation charges and was found with drugs in her possession.

BULLYING DAMAGES THE BULLIES TOO

A new study has found that bullies not only damage those they torment, but hurt themselves as well. Researcher Richard Ryan, a University of Rochester professor of clinical and social psychology, said that bullying causes the bullies to feel shame and guilt and makes them feel less connected to others. Ryan explained, "Their distress is different from the person excluded, but no less intense." Study leader Nicole Legate said in a statement, "We are social animals at heart."

FRECKLES' PICK

HINES WARD TO COMPETE IN THE IRONMAN

Retired NFL wide receiver Hines Ward has two Super Bowl rings – and one Super Bowl MVP award. He is the Steelers’ all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns, and had his #86 retired by the team.

And now, he’s training to compete in the Ironman Triathlon.

Of course, the Ironman isn’t just some lame weekend race. It’s brutal.

It consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride – and is topped off with a marathon, which is a 26.2-mile run.

Those events are raced in that order and without a break.

It sure doesn’t look like Hines Ward is just kicking up his feet and relaxing during his retirement.

Hines has partnered with REFUEL | ‘got chocolate milk?’ to launch “BECOME ONE,” a new documentary Web series that follows Ward and three other everyday athletes on a life-changing journey as they train for the 2013 IRONMAN® World Championship (all 140.6 grueling miles of it). This teaser trailer shows Hines going from football MVP to triathlon rookie — and learning how training hard and refueling smarter with lowfat chocolate milk could mean the difference between “bonking out” and crossing the most prestigious finish line in sports.
