Later this month, Carrie Underwood will appear at the Nordstrom Symphony Fashion Show. In anticipation of that event, Carrie recently sat down with N Focus magazine and dished on fashion, beauty, how she maintains such a healthy diet, her home city of Nashville and how she gets in some “me time” everyday. Read below to see find out what Carrie told N Focus…
We all know you are beautiful on the outside, but what is it that feeds your internal glow—that happy, serene aura?
My life can get pretty crazy at times. I try to make sure I get a little “me time” on a daily basis. Whether it’s that hour in the morning when I get to work out, getting a pedicure, or just getting to spend some alone time with my husband, every day should have a time that’s just for me.
When you’re not going glam for a big event, what’s your beauty routine?
I don’t want to spend my days “off” getting ready for life, so when getting ready, the quicker, the better! I try to get a good night’s sleep, work out, shower, throw some quick make-up on, take a quick curling iron to my hair, and off we go!
Don't have a full hour to spend at the gym? Don't sweat it. "A short, high-intensity workout is easy to stick with and just as beneficial," says Lisa Wheeler of Equinox gyms. Instead of a 40-minute run, do intervals: Jog 2 minutes and sprint 1 minute, for a total of 20 minutes.
"Food has a huge impact on your mood," says nutritionist Keri Glassman, "so when certain treats are off limits, it's like an awful, unending downer diet." Can you eat five cupcakes a day? No. But if you are craving a cookie, allow yourself one and really enjoy it.
It's simple enough: Dehydration makes you feel lethargic, and water restores energy. Two 8-ounce glasses of water are a good antidote for morning drag.
Most of us have been hit by the current economic downturn (and if you haven't, *high five*), which means that finding new and more inexpensive ways to do things is imperativefor everything from grocery shopping to dining out to dates.
That leaves a lot of us who aren't as creative (raises hand) to try and figure out new ways to go on dates, given that the 800 million dollar steak dinner is probably not exactly in our budget anymore. But there's no reason a date can't be as awesome (or more so) even if our wallets are lighter.
